I've never been a big fan of the show but I may have to tune in from time-to-time to watch this season...

Tom DeLay on Dancing with the Stars? What are he and his PR people thinking? He was not exactly your neutral politico; he was a polarizing figure who had to resign. My mother watches the show and I recall when Tucker Carlson was on there. He was never a politician but even as someone who publicly criticized the Clintons and perceived as conservative/libertarian made him unpopular – I think he was booed by some and was the 1st star voted off. These days, it’s likely that any one with any political background including punditry like George Will would be seen as “polarizing”. If they’re going to have one politico, make it fun and have someone from the so-called ‘the other side’ too i.e.: Bill Clinton, Geraldine Ferraro, John Edwards or Al Gore. Tom DeLay? I guess Newt Gingrich refused.
msteven--good point. Why not have a partisan Dem on to counter-balance. Would make for great theater. Perhaps John Edwards could have relaunched his career there...
